A Vedic birth chart, called a kundali or janma kundali in Sanskrit, is a map of the sky at the exact moment of your birth, viewed from your birthplace. It shows all nine classical Vedic planets (Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu) distributed across twelve houses and twelve signs of the sidereal zodiac.
The sidereal zodiac is fixed against the backdrop of actual stars rather than tied to the seasons, as in Western astrology. The Lahiri ayanamsa correction, approximately 23°51' in 2024, converts tropical planetary positions to their true sidereal positions. This is why your Vedic Sun sign is typically one sign earlier than your Western sign.
Stellr's birth chart calculator uses the Swiss Ephemeris DE431 dataset with the Lahiri ayanamsa. In addition to the primary D1 (Rasi) chart, the engine computes 20 named divisional charts: D2, D3, D4, D5, D6, D7, D8, D9, D10, D11, D12, D16, D20, D24, D27, D30, D40, D45, and D60. These include Navamsa (D9) for relationships and dharma, Dashamsa (D10) for career, Saptamsa (D7) for children, and Ashtamsa (D8) for transformation and longevity themes. The result also includes the rising nakshatra and pada, Vimshottari dasha timing, yogas, graha drishti, house lords, and strength markers.
